AfrOrigens – Em Busca do Último Navio Escravagista

EM PRODUÇÃO DESDE 2022.

Durante os 350 anos de Diáspora Africana, cerca de 15 milhões de escravizados foram levados através do Oceano Atlântico em 40 mil viagens, a bordo de 12 mil navios escravagistas.

Ao menos 10% dos escravizados pereceram na travessia e foram jogados no Oceano Atlântico, no Kalunga. Outros se jogaram no mar acreditando que assim retornariam em espírito à África.

AfrOrigens – Em Busca do Último Navio Escravagista é um filme de aventura científica e investigação criminal, sobre o maior crime contra a humanidade.

Cientistas e cineastas são os personagens detetives que saem em busca das histórias reais relevadas a partir das descobertas dos último navio escravagista documentado a desembarcar com sucesso africanos escravizados no Brasil, um dos únicos 6 naufrágios escravagistas descobertos e estudados até agora.

O filme está sendo gravado nos Brasil, com cenas passadas em Moçambique, Senegal, África do Sul, e nos EUA, trazendo à tona as provas materiais do crime da escravidão.

O filme terá acesso exclusivo ao único naufrágio escravagista descoberto e sendo estudado até hoje no Brasil. O Instituto AfrOrigens, parceiro do Slave Wrecks Project, é o coordenador científico do projeto.

O GRANDE LEGADO HISTÓRICO E SOCIAL DO PROJETO

O grande legado do projeto são as possíveis descobertas dos naufrágios dos navios escravagistas buscados. As comunidades quilombolas das regiões participarão da produção aprendendo sobre produção audiovisual, história e arqueologia, e mergulho submarino, o que irá empoderá-los a contarem sua própria história e tomar posse de seu patrimônio cultural e histórico revelado pela produção, pois o naufrágio escravagista passará a ser um sítio arqueológico da união que poderá ser usado pela comunidade para atividades de turismo cultural.

During the 350 years of the African Diaspora, around 15 million slaves were taken across the Atlantic Ocean in 40,000 voyages, aboard 12,000 slave ships.

At least 10% of the enslaved perished during the crossing and were thrown into the Atlantic Ocean, into the Kalunga. Others threw themselves into the ocean believing that this way they would return to Africa in spirit.

AfrOrigens – In Search of the Last Slave Ship is a scientific adventure and criminal investigation film, about the greatest crime against humanity.

Scientists and filmmakers are the detective characters who go in search of the real stories revealed from the discoveries of the only 6 slave shipwrecks discovered and studied so far.

The film is being recorded in the Brazil, with scenes in Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, and the USA, bringing to the surface the material evidence of the crime of slavery.

The film will have exclusive access to the only slave shipwreck discovered and being studied to date in Brazil. The AfrOrigens Institute, partner of the Slave Wrecks Project, is the scientific coordinator of the project.

THE PROJECT’S GREAT HISTORICAL AND SOCIAL LEGACY

The project’s greatest legacy is the possible discoveries of the wrecks of the slave ships sought. The afro-descendants communities in the regions will participate in the production by learning about audiovisual production, history and archeology, and underwater diving, which will empower them to tell their own story and take possession of their cultural and historical heritage revealed by the production, as the slave shipwreck will become an archaeological site of the union that can be used by the community for cultural tourism activities.
