TV/Streaming series with 24 episodes of 24 minutes about the circumnavigation of the African continent aboard a replica of a 600 BC Phoenician sail ship. Legend says that an Egyptian Pharaoh hired the Phoenicians to discover if Africa was surrounded by water on all sides. This international project proved that, with the support of the British Museum, Oxford University, and other institutions.
Pela primeira vez em milhares de anos, um navio a vela fenício voltou a navegar, para comprovar que uma lenda contada no ano 450 a.C. pelo grego Heródoto pode ser verdadeira. Segundo essa lenda, o Faraó Egípcio Necho II contratou os Fenícios, em 600 a.C., para saber se a África era de fato cercada de água por todos os lados. Este projeto internacional deu a volta na África, com apoio do Museu Britânico, Universidade de Oxford, Royal Geographical Society, entre outras entidades. For the first time in thousands of years, a Phoenician sailing ship sail again, to prove that a legend told in the year 450BC by the Greek historian Herodotus may be true. According to this legend, the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho II hired the Phoenicians in 600BC, to discover if Africa was indeed surrounded by water on all sides, except where it joins with Asia. This international project circumnavigated Africa with support from the British Museum, University of Oxford, Royal Geographical Society, among others. This is the official documentary, by Brazilian director Yuri Sanada.
De 2008 a 2010, um grupo de voluntários de 15 países navegaram uma réplica de um navio fenício sob a liderança do explorador britânico Capitão Philip Beale. Eles conseguiram recriar a primeira circumnavegação da África, realizada por marinheiros fenícios por volta de 600 AC., como narrado pelo grego Heródoto, o pai da História. Junte-se à expedição e veleje por mais de 20.000 milhas náuticas, por 15 países, e quase 2.600 anos de história, aventura e maravilhas. Este foi o último filme documentário filmado na Síria, e o retorno da expedição para a Síria, depois de 2 anos e 2 meses exatamente, foi o evento mais televisionado na história do país, agora enfrentando uma guerra civil.

From 2008 to 2010 a group of volunteers from 15 countries sailed a replica of a Phoenician Ship under the leadership of British Explorer Captain Philip Beale. They successfully recreated the first circumnavigation of Africa, accomplished by Phoenician mariners in circa 600BC., as narrated by the Greek Herodotus, the father of History. Join the expedition and sail over 20,000 nautical miles, for 15 countries, and almost 2,600 years of history, adventure, and wonders. This was the last documentary film shot in Syria, and the return of the expedition to Syria, after 2 years and 2 months exactly, was the single most televisioned event in the history of the country, now facing a civil war.
